The Beauty of the Unknown: On Stillness, Healing and the Perpetual Dance of Life
Lately I’ve come to the conclusion that life is but a series of revelations. You discover what you’re meant to do, where you’re meant to go and who you’re meant to be with. It’s a mystery until it’s not. You have clarity and then life reveals something else.
The lunar cycle begins in the dark with an empty sky. This year, instead of outward declaration, I went inward. I listened to my body and met the new year with stillness. I found myself in a void that is not quite the beginning, but not really the end. I realised that this moment is precious. How often do we launch immediately into action and miss out on the beauty of the unknown?
There is magic here in the dormancy. Sometimes this phase can look like stagnation or delay. There is a lack of visible growth but the roots are healthy. It can be tempting to dig up the seeds or burn it all down, but this is a time to conserve energy, not to push forward.
I think of the skin in the same way. There is often a latent period between the closing of the wound and the surfacing of new skin. It appears as though nothing is happening, but beneath the surface, everything has changed.
Most spot treatments rely on drying and peeling the skin to create the appearance of rapid improvement. However, moisture is critical for skin repair. When the skin is forced to dry and shed too quickly, the healing process is disrupted, often leaving behind post-inflammatory marks or indentations.
Clarity was intentionally formulated to work in harmony with the skin’s intrinsic cycles. Harnessing the power of six celebrated plant extracts, this treatment oil resolves blemishes while maintaining barrier integrity and microbiome balance.
Blue Tansy, Helichrysum and Chamomile mitigate redness and texture, while Tea Tree, Rosemary and Cedarwood diminish oiliness and congestion. Clarity can be applied as a targeted treatment, or my personal preference is to mix a few drops with a clay mask for all-over soothing.
“Life, one ultimately learns, is nothing but an eternal cycle of birth, living and death. Nature is in a perpetual dance of impermanence.”
— DR NEENA VERMA
If I’ve learned anything over the past year, it’s that healing is never linear. It’s often imperceptible at first. Then suddenly, you notice you react a little less. You have a bit more energy and your shoulders feel lighter. Something within you has shifted. You get better and grow stronger. Then you start all over again.
That’s all we’re ever doing—cycling, oscillating and dancing through life.
With devotion,
Annie
